At the top of the Houston Cole Library on a warm October evening, the Johnson Institute joined with the American Democracy Project at Jacksonville State University to co-host a Free Speech Forum.
Over 100 attendees looked on as Dr. Lori Owens of JSU and Thomas Rains of the Johnson Institute moderated the discussion among panelists that included:
Former Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange
Professor Bryan Fair of the University of Alabama School of Law
Professor Allen Linken of the University of Alabama
Questions submitted ahead of time by the JSU community and general public covered topics ranging from hate speech to free speech policies for students and faculty at public and private institutions.
JSU President Dr. Don Killingsworth, Provost Dr. Christie Shelton, and Johnson Institute Co-Chair Debbie Long each offered their thanks to the panelists.
