Growth, growth, and more growth would be a good description of 2024 at the Johnson Institute! We are rising to meet the nationwide desire to learn about the U.S. Constitution and the judiciary, as well as the importance of the rule and role of law in our society.
Over the course of 2024, we have taught more people, extended our reach, and built new partnerships as we continued to fulfill our mission. Below is a sampling of our progress, and we invite you to reach out to the Johnson Institute to learn more.
Tours: Our record-breaking growth last year in 2023 was just a warm-up for 2024. We have trained, taught, or interacted with nearly 2,000 visitors across more than 75 groups and events in 2024. More professional groups, schools, teachers, and visitors are learning about our nation’s Constitution and civil rights history through the Johnson Institute’s programming thanks to supporters like you.
Outreach: Events outside the courthouse have allowed us to extend our reach. This has included a professional education for attorneys with the Alabama State Bar, a presentation to the American Association of State and Local History, and continued interaction with the Alabama Council on Social Studies.
Events: Hosting special programs for a wide variety of groups such as judges from the National Judicial College, accountants from the Alabama Society of CPAs, and summer campers from the YMCA reflects the Institute's versatility in engaging diverse audiences to teach about the U.S. Constitution in meaningful ways that resonate with a wide range of participants.
Building Partnerships: We’re building partnerships with universities, other non-profits, and professional groups in and outside of Alabama to lay the groundwork for the future. This includes the Supreme Court Historical Society, the Cary Center at Auburn University, and the University of Alabama School of Law, among others.
We will continue expanding our reach in 2025 and invite you to join us.
