About the Art Work:
“In my portrait of Judge Johnson, I hoped to impart the quiet, unshakeable strength that defined his character. A steadiness that did not announce itself, yet reshaped history. I approached the painting as a transcription of a single moment in time; attentive to gesture, gaze, and restraint. And yet, like his ruling, the image is meant to endure beyond that moment. It is both stillness and consequence: a meditation on how conviction, rendered in silence, can reverberate across generations.”
— Phoebe Delaney
